The trail falls under the jurisdiction of the Thane Wildlife Division and partly passes through the Sudhagad Wildlife Sanctuary, which is managed by the Maharashtra Forest Department, known for its ecological richness and protected biodiversity.
The Andharban trek, meaning ‘dark forest,’ is a scenic 13 km jungle trail in the Sahyadri region, best enjoyed during the monsoon. Starting near Pimpri village at 2,160 ft, it descends through lush greenery, waterfalls, and streams, ending at Bhira Dam backwaters. Ideal for nature lovers, the trek offers views of Devkund waterfalls, Tamhini Ghat, and rich flora and fauna. It takes around 6–7 hours and requires good stamina.
