Andharban Trek Overview

The Andharban trek, located in the Sahyadri region, means ‘Dark Forest’ (Andhar = dark, Ban = forest). It’s a unique descending trail that takes you through dense jungle paths with stunning views of Devkund waterfalls, Tamhini Ghat, and deep green valleys.

Starting near Pimpri village at Independence Point (2,160 ft), the 13 km trek leads down to the serene backwaters of Bhira Dam. Along the way, you’ll encounter numerous waterfalls, small streams, and vibrant flora and fauna—especially colorful birds like Chaatak, minivets, and kingfishers.

Though the trail includes some flat walks, the long distance requires good stamina and physical fitness. While experienced trekkers often enjoy the night version, first-timers should stick to daytime for safety and ease.

Best Time to Visit: Monsoon. The forest comes alive with misty air, lush greenery, and the magical charm of the Kundalika Valley.
